What is a Vacuum Emulsifier Homogenizer?

The Vacuum Emulsifier Homogenizer is a complete system for manufacturing viscous emulsion, dispersion and suspension in either small-scale or large-scale cosmetic, pharmaceutical, food and chemical industries.

What is unique about the Vacuum Emulsifier Homogenizer compared with other types of mixers is it utilizes the many significant functions of vacuum to improve the performance of mixing and product handling and to achieve the best mixing results.

Controlling the mixing environment into a vacuum state will not only prevent aeration which will lead to mixing blade degradation, but will also attain void-free end product mixtures.

Ginhong manufactures various types of Vacuum Emulsifier Homogenizers to suit client needs. Clients may choose from the RX, RS or RB series. The RX Emulsifier homogenizer is suitable for big batches and large quantities of powdery products. This type of equipment comes with working capacities between 50L-2000L.

The RS Emulsifier Homogenizer is for small to medium batches with the same capacities as the RX Emulsifier Homogenizer (50L-2000L), but is most suitable for creams or more fluid products. On the other hand, the RB Emulsifier Homogenizer is suitable for large and continuous batches of emulsions.

The RS, RX and RB series can also has variations for small and on budget equipment. For example, if a client is on budget and needs an RX Emulsifier Homogenizer, he may choose an RX Simplified Emulsifier homogenizer instead.

How it Works

How the Vacuum Emulsifier Homogenizer works is very simple. First, the materials are introduced into the mixing tank. The emulsifying mixing tank contains fixed impellers with holes which promotes thorough mixing. During operation, the blades simultaneously rotate in forward and reverse rotation at variable speeds.

High speed mixing is initiated by forward mixing and reverse mixing initiates low mixing. The forward blade will convey the material up and the reverse blade will convey the material down. Depending on the application of the mixing unit, the client may choose from a number of Ginhong Vacuum Emulsifying Homogenizers based on working capacity and speed.

Materials will be continuously loaded and mixed by these two opposite forces, and will eventually be thrown out in the middle by centrifugal force. This is done repeatedly until the materials are completely mixed, dispersed and homogenized. Afterward, the heat from the jacket is quickly transferred to every part through the inside wall.

The equipment works completely under vacuum by the aid of the vacuum pump forcing the air out of the mixing tank. The vacuum protective sensor will keep the liquid pressure in normal state. In this scenario, it is assumed that less to no excess air is inside the system.

Quality Control

Mixers all comply with Current Good Manufacturing Practice (CGMP) regulations enforced by the FDA. CGMP is vital for quality control of manufacturing plants as it entails proper design, monitoring, and control of manufacturing processes and procedures.

Adherence to the CGMP regulations assures the identity, strength, and quality of manufacturing operations. CGMP also establishes strong quality management systems, robust operating procedures and investigating product quality deviations.

Process Goals

De-aeration reduces product failures by eliminating voids. This is usually common in manufacturing cements or epoxy-based composites when they are subjected to stress.

Deoxidation is the removal of oxygen from the mixing system to prevent degradation of sensitive ingredients and unwanted chemical reactions during the mixing process. Oxygen can also promote microbial growth which might mix into the ingredients.

Vacuum drying

Moisture and solvent is driven off by the heat produced by vacuum at low pressure. With vacuum we can quickly take the batch material through a series of changes in physical state – from slurry to a paste, and from a paste to a granulation or dry powder.

Solvent recovery

Solvents drawn off with vacuum are easily condensed and captured. This prevents them from contaminating the atmosphere (both inside and outside the plant). The processor can then re-use the solvents or dispose of them to meet environmental requirements.

Solid/liquid injection

Under vacuum, we can inject liquids and lightweight powders into a batch through a sub-surface port in the vessel. This accelerates the mix cycle, especially by wetting out powders instantly.

A batch that has been agitated and deaerated under vacuum winds up denser than it was initially. This often enables us to mix more efficiently and to ship the product more economically. With densification, the physical properties of the end-product are often improved as well.

Vacuum stripping

A useful tool to lower the temperature of your batch material by evaporation. This is especially helpful when the batch material becomes so thick that it is not in continuous contact with the vessel wall – and no longer transferring heat through the vessel wall to the cooling fluid.

Elimination of voids

Enhanced drying at lower temperatures

Reduced Waste and Sanitary

The Vacuum Emulsifier Homogenizer is equipped with a Scraper made of a Teflon or a non-stick coating. This material is easy to clean, hard to be dissolved in all solvents and can withstand high temperatures. The Scraper gathers material wastes which can be collected without process interruption.

Less Air Entrainment

The overall mixing system forms a closed loop, meaning it prevents unwanted air from entering into the system. With less to no air entering the system, cavitation or formation of bubbles in a liquid, which causes blade damage, is prevented. This elongates the life of the Vacuum Emulsifier Homogenizer

Ginhong manufactures a wide variety of mixers with a great range of viscosities and applications. Their extensive range of pumps and process systems are designed to withstand extremities when delivering efficient metering, processing and analyzing.

Cosmetics and Toiletries

In cosmetic and personal care preparation and processing, challenges are encountered during the mixing process as it is difficult to attain the proper the proper amount of hydration of thickening and suspending agents, maintaining emulsion stability, process hygiene, disintegrating solids, blending liquids of different viscosities and mixing thickeners. It is also an imperative property that cosmetics attain the proper color, fragrance and other physical properties after being mixed.

More about
Vacuum Emulsifier Homogenizer

1What kinds of mixer machinery do you manufacture?
Ginhong specialize in manufacturing vacuum emulsifying homogenizers and high shear mixers for semi-solids/creams and liquids. Liquid/liquid and liquid/powder are the main applications. We also make some horizontal ribbon mixers for powders.
2What’s the delivery time?
Generally speaking, the delivery time is between 30 to 60 days for vacuum homogenizer mixer and multi-shaft mixer. For mixing tank, homogenizer and high speed disperser, the delivery time is between 30 to 45 days. Anyway, it all depends how busy we are when you put the order. We can overwork to finish your mixer machinery if you have special requirements on delivery time.
3How about the quality of the mixer?
We’ll test every mixer before shipment to ensure it works well whether you come to inspect it or not. It will not be shipped if it has any problem. So you don’t need to worry about the quality. Actually some customers haven’t come to our factory yet although they had placed several orders from us.
4What is the payment term?
Generally, we take 30% of total amount as down payment, which should be wired by T/T. The 70% balance will be paid by T/T after you inspect your mixer system before shipment. We also accept letter of credit although it takes more expenses. But our bank should confirm your opening bank’s credit first.
